All DVDs we sell are in DVD-R format. They are playable on about 98% of DVD players. (Note: These are high quality DVD's, not VCD's. VCD's are a lower quality recording media and do not hold up in both viewing quality or physical quality as DVD's.) DVDs are Region 0 (meaning region free) in NTSC format. We DO NOT accept return for player incompatibility. All DVD-Roms (DVD players in your computer) can play DVD-Rs. currently http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdplayers.php is best place to find out information about your DVD player. We convert all of the movies here at sumogorilla.com using state of the art equipment and we go to great lengths to track down the highest quality source that we can. The audio/visual quality of each movie is rated from 1-10, 10 of course being the best and 1 being the worst. The majority of OUR catalogue are 8's, 9's or 10's.
- 10/10 is DVD or Laser Disc Quality!!!
- 9/10 is brand new VHS Quality
- 8/10 is slightly less than VHS Quality
- 7/10 is equal to T.V.(a used VHS tape) Quality
- 6/10 - 4/10 is Fair to substandard quality but the only available version.. still watchable!.

What does NTSC region free mean?
NTSC (National Television System Committee)
The NTSC is responsible for setting television and video standards in the United States (in Europe and the rest of the world, the dominant television standards are PAL and SECAM). The NTSC standard for television defines a composite video signal with a refresh rate of 60 half-frames (interlaced) per second. Each frame contains 525 lines and can contain 16 million different colors. The NTSC standard is incompatible with most computer video standards, which generally use RGB video signals. However, you can insert special video adapters into your computer that convert NTSC signals into computer video signals and vice versa.
Region free means it will play anywhere in the world!
What does Fullscreen or Widescreen mean?
The ratio of image width to image height. Common motion-picture ratios are 1.85:1 and 2.35:1. Television screens are usually 1.33:1 (also known as 4:3), which is similar to the Academy standard for films in the '50s. HDTV is 1.78:1, or 16:9. When widescreen movies (films with aspect ratios wider than 1.33:1) are displayed on 1.33:1 televisions, the image must be letterboxed, anamorphically squeezed, or panned-and-scanned to fit the screen.
Fullscreen (4:3)
A term used to describe the shape of the picture a movie is displayed in order for it to fill an analog TV screen. Analog TVs have a 4:3 aspect ratio, while widescreen TVs (and most theatrical films) have an aspect ration of 16:9. When a film is played in fullscreen format for a 4:3 TV, it is almost always adjusted to fit. You may be familiar with the phrase, "This movie has been modified from its original version. It has been formatted to fit your TV." = much of the original picture has been cropped. The 4:3 shape TV is expected to become obsolete over the next decade as TV moves to digital and HDTV formats, which are widescreen-based. DVDs often offer both fullscreen and widescreen formats, however many are already only available in widescreen and anamorphic format, catering to the growing audience of home cinema enthusiasts who have already abandoned fullscreen.
Letterbox (4:3)
Video mastering process whereby a film source with an aspect ratio greater than that of the video master is transferred to the video master in such a way that no film image is cut off to the left or the right, requiring the addition of black bars at the top and at the bottom of the image so that it entirely fills the screen - in other words, the technique of shrinking the image just enough so that its entire width appears on screen, with black areas above and below the image.
The advantage of this technique is that the film images are shown as originally intended by the film's creators, not interfering with their shot composition and artistic intentions. The disadvantage is that the entire image must be shrunk, which makes viewing on smaller TVs more difficult.
Widescreen (16:9)
Term used to describe a picture in which the aspect ratio is wider than the NTSC standard of 4:3/1.33:1. Almost all movies made nowadays are shot in some widescreen format. To solve the problem of different aspect ratios, several different techniques can be used. Among them are anamorphic squeezing, letterboxing, and Pan and Scanning.
Anamoprhic Widescreen (16:9)
DVDs can be anamorphically enhanced. This means that the video is stored in a "squeezed" format on the disc. The DVD player will then "unsqueeze" the image before outputting it to your television or projector. The advantage of an anamorphic transfer is an increased resolution and therefore, better picture quality than a standard widescreen transfer. No pixels are wasted in producing the black bars, present above and below a 2.35:1 framed picture.
What is a workprint?
A workprint is a rough version of a motion picture, used by the film editor(s) during the editing process. Such copies generally contain original recorded sound that will later be re-dubbed, stock footage, additional scenes not found in the theatrical release. Many times it's a longer and better cut of the film.
